What are Pixel Ads?Pixel ads are a fairly new form of Internet marketing. It all started with Alex Tew from Wiltshire, England in August of 2005. Alex raised $1 million over the course of several months to fund his college tuition. Since then, numerous pixel ad websites have popped up from around the world.
A Pixel Ad website presents a collection of small images and logos on a "pixel grid" that link to various other websites. Pixel advertisements are relatively inexpensive, usually costing between $0.05 and $1.00 for a 10x10 pixel block, and are renewed every 1 to 5 years. Because of their longevity, high visibility, and social novelty, they are considered a highly valuable marketing tool that can significantly improve a website's market reach.
How does CatholicPixelAds.Net work?CatholicPixelAds.Net is divided into several pages, organized by category, which contain one or more pixel grids. Each grid contains a collection of pixel blocks - each is 10x10 pixels. The main grid on each page consists of approximately 1,000,000 pixels.
Pixel space may be purchased in 10x10 blocks, most blocks costing $10.00 USD each ($0.10 per pixel). Blocks display clickable website advertisements that link to various websites in a new window. Larger pixel ads, just like printed advertisements, have been proven to be more readable and effective than smaller ads.
Once an ad is placed on CatholicPixelAds.Net, it remains active for a period of 2 years, after which it may be renewed. To honor our Catholic priests and religious, the Religious Orders ads will NEVER expire! The longer a website is advertised with CatholicPixelAds.Net, the more exposure it will receive. Over time, CatholicPixelAds.Net is expected to attract major global attention, especially given its uniqueness.

How many pixels can we buy?You may purchase several adjacent squares to make a larger area available for your image or banner ad, or you can buy several smaller pixel blocks. Remember, the larger the ad, the more attention it will bring and thereby increasing your clickthrough potential.
Why can't we buy individual pixels? Why do we have to buy at least 100?Individual pixels are simply too small to click on. The 10x10 squares are about as small as you can go and still have some kind of recognizable image to catch people's attention.
How do I upload my own ad or logo?Normally you would provide your website or organizational logo in GIF or JPG format during the checkout process (after you click Get Pixels at the top). Our website will automatically resize your image to fit! You may also use one of our nearly 500 images. It’s so easy! So the only thing you need to worry about is what blocks to choose… we’ll take care of the rest.
TIP: Your uploaded image cannot exceed 500K, so you have need to resize it with your image editor (Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro) before uploading. If you need help, just contact us!
Who are you?We are a married Catholic couple, have 4 children, and live in the United States. We are 100% loyal to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church, the Holy See, and the teaching of the Magisterium.
What is your spin on the original idea?When we first heard about Pixel Ads, we immediately thought it was a great idea for a fundraiser for our local Catholic youth group. We visited many sites to see what the craze was about and to see how it worked. It was fun clicking on the various icons to see what interesting sites pop up, but we quickly found that you have to be careful. Many pixel sites contain links to adult and/or offensive content, and we definitely didn't want to offer that.
That being said, we discussed how to make our site stand out from the hundreds of other pixel sites. We began our search on the web for Catholic-based Pixel Ad sites, but to our surprise we came up empty handed. So we decided to take it upon ourselves to become the first!
In addition, we recognized the practical need for organization. Many pixel ad sites lump all their ads into a single grid. To help visitors find the sites they're most interested in, we decided to create several top-level categories. Over time, these may change as ads are added, feedback from advertisers is received, and click-through trends are analyzed.
What are you doing with the money that the site raises?We donate 75% of the revenues to our local Catholic youth group as a fundraiser. (To protect their privacy, we do not list their name and address here, but we can provide credentials upon request.) In turn, they use the funds to sponsor various youth events and cover costs of their activities and programs. They are very generous in giving of their time and treasures to those in need. The remaining 25% is used to pay for website maintenance, bandwidth, promotion and content development.
Do we have to be a Catholic based institution or individual to advertise on CatholicPixelAds.Net?Though you will find a wide assortment of Catholic organizations, companies, apostolates, and individuals advertising on our site, we have a page reserved for Friends. As long as your site is family-friendly and not offensive to the Catholic Church, you're more than welcome to advertise your site here. We inspect all of the ads and links before posting them to the main page. We do not allow companies that advertise adult orientated material or otherwise offensive to the Catholic Church to place an ad here.
